Our gourmet-quality rice originates from Nett Lake, a 7,400-acre wild rice lake located on the Bois Forte Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota. This lake is the largest, contiguous wild rice lake in the world, and annually produces in excess of four million pounds of wild rice. Indian people at this remote, pristine place have harvested this product for centuries. Today, as in the past, harvesting of this fine product occurs in the traditional way, by hand. No mechanical means of harvesting have ever been employed on Nett Lake. The people of Bois Forte have also held fast to their belief that no chemical means be employed to grow this immensely valuable grain. As such, absolutely no chemicals or fertilizers have ever been used to grow Nett Lake wild rice.
